Make Music--Make History

Make Music – Make History

The MAYS is happy to be working with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra in paying tribute to Mr. Jonathan May.

The OPO is inviting student string musicians of all ages to audition to be part of a student ensemble to perform with the Orchestra and Music Director Christopher Wilkins on the World Premiere of a new commission by the brother of Jonathan May, composer Daniel May.  Also on this concert, legendary violinist Joshua Bell is performing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concert in D Major.  The concert will take place on Saturday, May 14th, 2011, at Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre.

Students can apply for this special honor two ways:

Option #1: Upload a video audition (details below) to YouTube and send your video link to the OPO along with a completed application form.

Option #2: The MAYS will be providing students with the opportunity to have their auditions videotaped during regular rehearsal times on Saturday and Sunday, March 19-20.

As this contest is open to all string students in Central Florida, we are asking that all students make appointments to have their live auditions videotaped.  Appointments can be made via email to: mays4music@maysymphony.org or info@orlandophil.org

Times and locations to have your audition taped by representatives of the MAYS:

March 19 • 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Geneva School 2025 State Road 436 Winter Park, FL 32792
